Simon, who lives at Roman House, has completed an incredible challenge â summitting the O2 in London and raising ÂŁ1000 for the Salvation Army.
With the help of an amazing support team, including Chris Bell (Group Development and Improvement Manager), and the use of a specially designed wheelchair, Simon ascended to the 171ft summit. Once at the top, Simon was rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the London skyline.
This was not the first âthrill-seekingâ adventure Simon has completed. He has previously tackled abseiling, gliding, and quad biking, meaning he is no stranger to daring activities. He has already set his sights on his next big adventure, which he hopes will be zip lining. True to his obvious âno-fearâ personality, he was not bothered by the height of the O2 in the slightest, in fact he enjoyed it.
Trudy Hobday, registered manager of Roman House, said🎤:
âThis inspiring achievement is a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished with determination, courage, and the right support. Here at Salutem we are very proud to support Simon in living his life to the fullest and committed to empowering the individuals we support to push boundaries and achieve extraordinary goals.â
Beyond the personal achievement, Simonâs climb raised an impressive ÂŁ1000 for the Salvation Army, a charity that means an awful lot to him.
He said: 🎤
âI always want to push myself and prove that I can do anything. Itâs something different and I love the adventure. Adventure is for everybody and climbing the O2 was an amazing experience for me, and I hope it inspires others to do something different and push the boundaries.â
Simonâs climb not only demonstrates his personal resilience but also highlights the importance of accessibility and inclusion in adventure activities. What an incredible achievement!🎉
