🌟 National Apprenticeship Week Spotlight: Kim Harding’s Leadership Journey 🌟

As we continue celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2026, we’re shining a light on the diverse and inspiring apprenticeship journeys taking place across Salutem. Today, we’re sharing the experience of Kim Harding, who is currently undertaking a Level 6 Chartered Management Business Degree apprenticeship; a programme designed to develop confident, capable and future‑ready leaders.

Kim chose the apprenticeship pathway to gain a recognised qualification while strengthening her leadership and management skills in real time. The ability to apply new learning directly to her role has already made a meaningful difference.

Reflecting on her apprenticeship experience so far, Kim shared:

“I am currently completing the Chartered Management Business Degree apprenticeship. I chose to do an apprenticeship because of the benefits of on-the-job learning and being able to directly apply what I am learning to my role. It feels like a natural part of my job rather than an added extra, and the level of support that surrounds apprenticeships – including specialist teams and accessible funding – makes it an even more attractive option.

So far, it has brought real value by motivating me to do well and prove that the time and effort I am putting in is worthwhile. It has also made me feel supported and valued as part of the team, knowing the organisation believed in me. Everything I am learning is directly applicable to my day-to-day work, whether that is new ways of approaching tasks, developing reflection and resilience, problem-solving, or building business acumen.

Although it is still early days, I feel it is already supporting my positive leadership and teamworking style, and I hope these benefits will continue to have a positive knock-on effect for my team. Once completed, I hope the apprenticeship will provide validation for my years of experience, alongside new skills, knowledge and insight, a strong peer group, and confidence to progress further in my career.”

Kim’s story highlights the real impact apprenticeships have – not only in developing professional expertise, but also in building confidence, leadership capability, and a sense of value and support within the workplace.

Her journey is a brilliant example of how degree‑level apprenticeships can strengthen teams, empower individuals, and support long‑term career growth across Salutem.
