There are moments in the life of a service that truly deserve to be celebrated, and this is certainly one of them. We are delighted to congratulate Greenfields Close on achieving an Overall Good rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) – a significant milestone that reflects years of dedication, commitment and excellent care.

What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that it marks the first time in 9.5 years that Greenfields has been rated Overall Good, providing long-overdue recognition for the high standards of care and support delivered by the team every day.

A Journey of Improvement and Recognition

During the CQC inspection in November 2022, Greenfields achieved Good ratings in Safe, Caring and Well-Led. However, because the Effective and Responsive domains were not inspected, the service’s overall rating remained Requires Improvement, despite the positive findings across key areas of care.

This latest assessment has now brought the overall rating in line with the quality of support being delivered and recognises the sustained hard work undertaken across the service. It is a testament to the resilience, professionalism and passion of colleagues who have remained focused on delivering the very best outcomes for those they support.

Supporting People to Live Confident, Inclusive and Empowered Lives

Greenfields Close, which was registered in December 2010, underwent this assessment as a comprehensive review had not been completed since 2019.

The inspection highlighted the strong culture that exists within the service, with leaders and support staff sharing values centred on helping people live ordinary lives with the same rights, opportunities and choices as any other citizen.

Inspectors found that the ethos, attitudes and behaviours demonstrated by the team enabled people to lead confident, inclusive and empowered lives, creating an environment where individuals are encouraged to thrive and achieve positive outcomes.

Delivering Outstanding Person-Centred Care

The report recognised the positive impact Greenfields has on the people it supports, noting improvements in emotional wellbeing, meaningful relationships and overall quality of life.

Throughout the assessment, inspectors saw clear evidence of compassionate, respectful and dignified care. Staff demonstrated an excellent understanding of each individual, ensuring support was tailored to their needs, preferences and personal goals.

The service was praised for its person-centred approach, with individualised support plans enabling staff to deliver outcome-focused and safe care. Communication preferences were clearly documented and respected, helping people remain at the centre of decisions about their own support.

Importantly, people were treated with kindness and compassion, with their privacy, dignity and human rights consistently upheld.

A Fantastic Team Achievement

Achieving an Overall Good rating is never the result of one person’s efforts—it reflects the collective dedication of an entire team working together with a shared purpose.

Congratulations to Michelle Green and everyone at Greenfields Close on this fantastic and thoroughly deserved achievement. Reaching an Overall Good rating after nearly a decade is a milestone worth celebrating and a reflection of the exceptional care and support provided every day.

👏👏👏 Well done to the whole team.
