Education Spotlight: A Journey of Growth at Cavendish View💚✨

With eight years of experience, SallyAnn’s journey began as an apprentice at Walton Nurture Early Years, where she completed her Level 2 Childcare qualification before progressing to Level 3. When the nursery became part of Cavendish View school, she transitioned into her current role and is now working toward a Teaching Assistant Level 3 with a Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning. Salutem has supported her development every step of the way, offering apprenticeships and opportunities to learn while gaining hands-on experience.

Her day-to-day role involves supporting the teacher with tasks before and after school, following a visual timetable to help children understand their day, and using a “Now and Next” board to make transitions easier. Lessons include maths, English, and topic work, with activities tailored to the children’s interests. She currently works with children aged 8 to 10 years and has developed a wide range of skills through experience in different rooms and collaboration with various teachers, learning strategies to support children with diverse needs.

SallyAnn’s passion for specialist education began at Walton Nurture Early Years, where she worked with children who had additional needs. This inspired her to pursue a career that offers continuous learning and growth. While the role can be challenging, particularly when managing behaviours, the rewards are immense. Seeing children achieve their targets, watching their personalities shine, and hearing positive feedback from parents makes every challenge worthwhile.

A standout moment from her time at Cavendish was:

““A standout moment for me is knowing that the children feel they can come to me for support. It’s rewarding to know they trust me and have an adult they can rely on when needed, and I truly value the strong relationships I’ve built with them across the school.”

Her journey is a true example of how dedication and support can lead to growth and success in specialist education. At Cavendish View, every day brings new opportunities to make a difference and she’s proud to be part of a team that helps children thrive.
