Salutem Care and Education is celebrating its Group Head of Talent and Development making the shortlist of this years’ Great British Care Awards.
Wendy Pipes, who has worked with the firm since 2018, supporting staff members with their continuing professional development, has reached the finals of the prestigious industry awards in the Workforce Development category.
The Workforce Development Award acknowledges the importance of the role of workforce development within the care service and looks for a person who has shown incredible enthusiasm and determination in identifying training and development needs of care staff, establishing rolling training programmes, searching for and gaining funding and proving their ability to enthuse and energise staff to attend and request training.
Wendy will find out if she has won the regional award (South East) in April 2021, and if successful, will go on to the national final in July.
As part of the nomination, staff said of Wendy: “She manages to create a buzz, and enthusiasm around the team and creates a culture whereby people are encouraged with their own personal development.
“Her own passion is visible to all that have support from her and she has become a huge asset to the company and to those people that want to feel valued working in care.
“Although we are a large company, she is always approachable and has time to help with any development. I feel that people like Wendy will help promote the positive sides of working in the care industry which helps with recruitment.”
Wendy said: “I was incredibly humbled to find out that I had been even nominated for this award, let alone shortlisted. I love working with the team at Salutem and helping talented, caring individuals reach their full potential.
“Even if I don’t win, it’s an honour that the people I work with hold me in such high regard. I’m glad that they feel I’m helping and supporting them.”
